This is the 2nd lesson of a 5 lesson plan unit on kinetic and potential energy - aimed for 6th grade - themed to The Hunger Games. In this lab Student discover how the distance of a stretched bow at rest relates to the distance the arrow travels after being released. Student will be given mini bow and arrows (paperclip attached to a rubber band, and straws for arrows) and measure the distance a bobby pin travels based on how far the rubber band is pulled back. Students will graph their data and determine a relationship. Student will then determine which parts of the experiment demonstrated kinetic and potential energy.
