“Hunger Games” Inspired Project– The "Hunger Games" Inspired Project was inspired by the “Hunger Games” series and an integration of the following NGSS standards - MS-LS2-4, MS-LS2-5, MS-LS2-2 and MS-LS2-1. This project is about is introduced with the perspective of your student as an arena designer for the 74th Annual Hunger Games. Your kiddos are tasked with developing a challenging arena that mimics a known (arena) biome and contains authentic abiotic factors and biodiversity from that (arena) biome. They are also responsible with selecting organism relationships featured in their (arena) biome: competition, predation and symbiosis. They must also include facts about the rates of precipitation in the (arena) biome, the topography and the climate. The students must select a catastrophic event that will hit their (arena) biome and discuss how their (arena) biome will restore itself post catastrophic event.
This project is intended to be very challenging and reach the students in your classroom that might otherwise not be reached. I will continue to hone this product and make others like it available in my store. *Look out for upcoming products*
How Can the “Hunger Games” Inspired Project be used in the classroom?
This project can be teacher directed of student led. Optimally students are paired into small groups to complete the project. Once the students are grouped, a teacher will can have team leaders draw one of the 8 project options from a cup.
The teacher can lead the students through fill in the blank instructions over the project requirements. Another option is turn the directions into a flipped lesson to make the students more accountable for the knowledge obtained.

This product is intended for use with General Education and or/ Pre Advanced Placement middle school Science students (grades 6 -8) but can be utilized with any developmentally appropriate age group.
