This is a creative and engaging project that helps students review elements of characterization, setting, and plot in the novel The Hunger Games. Students put themselves in the role of movie executives adapting the book into a film. They must outline their costuming choices, pitch casting decisions, describe the novel's three main settings, suggest filming locations, and storyboard the most important scene.
This project can be used to assess your students' comprehension as they read, as a final project, or as an activity to bridge reading the novel and viewing the film. It can also be extended by having students develop their scenes into scripts to be videotaped or performed in front of the class.
Some of the Common Core State Standards this project could be used to address: ELA-Literacy.RL.6.7; RL.6.5; and W.6.1
Includes four pages of printable templates and worksheets.
