Its time for learning to take shape, in three dimensions! Students will get involved in hands-on creation of a diorama that represents the life of hunter-gatherer societies. This is a challenging project as students will need to select a theme from 5 choices to represent in a physical model the model should represent the challenges and lifestyle of early humans living in groups and struggling to survive through hunting and gathering.
The completed diorama should be an excellent source of factual representation of what life was like. There are guidelines and a scoring rubric included and all of the thematic choices a student might represent, while leaving a possibility for another topic or theme with teacher approval. There should be little need for explanation of the project when presented, it should speak for itself but students may turn in an index card or a few to illustrate their chocies.
Students love making these dioramas and you will be surprised in the quality you get back as students explore research to inform how they can create their dioramas.
