Your students will love this game where they choose a camper and follow tracks through the woods to see if they can find Bigfoot! With each slide more tracks are revealed so that your students end up reading a 16 beat pattern, which is extracted from a folk song or art music. There is an extension idea include on how to incorporate musical memory before returning to the camp site
This file includes 5 versions of the game so that it can be different each time your students play it. Students can play the patterns on recorder but can also sing the patterns on solfa or absolute pitch names. This can also be used as a "mystery" song practice in that the students will derive the known song that is notated in the footprints.
Patterns used in this file are from:
Go Tell Aunt Rhody
Let Us Chase the Squirrel
Old Aunt Dinah
