This higher order, statistical set of tasks for Katrina and Company, Tasks 6-9, are designed to follow Tasks 1-5, but can be done independently.
Tasks 6-9 address finding patterns to see if relationships or correlations exist between specific traits in hurricanes and tropical storm. Four questions are addressed: (1) Is there a relationship between the month storms form and their category? (2) Is there a relationship between the month storms form and their duration (how long they last)? (3) Is there a relationship between a storm’s category and its duration? and (4) Is there a relationship between the pressure in a storm and its category? Included are task cards, charts, graphing forms, and response regarding correlations.
Note: The 2005 Hurricane Data Information Cards are included with this packet. Short PowerPoint also included.
