Hurricane Harvey is the most far-reaching hurricane and flood in recent history. This activity bundle celebrates the heroism and good citizenship during Hurricane Harvey. Original photography and experiences (as we are living through it here in Houston) are shared in a slideshow, 2-Day lesson plan, a handout, a critical-thinking activity, and a problem-solving activity.
***Proceeds are donated daily to the American Red Cross***
The Hurricane Harvey Bundle includes:
1. 60+ slides in a PowerPoint slideshow (also as editable Google Slides)
2. 2-Day Suggested Lesson Sequence
3. Critical-Thinking Open-Ended Questions (1 page)
4. Problem-Solving Task (1 page)
5. 4 pages of slideshow student notes pages
The Hurricane Harvey slideshow gives original photography of four different Texas communities ravaged by the storm: Houston, Dickinson, Conroe, and Clear Lake.
Students will discover the effects of the hurricane and the 800-year flood. The slideshow begins with a brief overview of a North American map and two question prompts.
The critical-thinking activity requires students to infer the dangers of flood waters, the threats in a hurricane, and what supplies are needed in a natural disaster.
The problem-solving activity presents students with the challenge of designing an adaptation for a home that is going to be constructed along the Texas gulf coast.
