This is a fun lab activity for students to observe the behavior of a Hydra (Phylum Cnidaria)first-hand! When I do this lab - I use scanning microscopes and petri dishes. I put a hydra in the petri dish - and then using a pipette I introduce a Daphnia. The students should be able to observe the hydra feeding - by using its tentacles and nematocysts. This is a very fun activity! The lab handout provides the students with pictures - and places to answer questions/draw pictures. A teachers guide is also included!
