Kids see advertisements all the time, and many contain hyperboles. In this activity students choose 3 items within the classroom to sell to fellow classmates and their teacher. The sales pitches must include hyperbole. The point is to make the buyer want to purchase the product the students are selling!
With my students: I broke them up into groups of 2 or 3 depending on the number present. I gave them 10-15 minutes to choose the items and come up with sales pitches. When time was called, students choose one sales pitch to present to the class, and as a class we decided whose product we'd be most likely to buy.
