Hyperbole is an extreme exaggeration not meant to be taken literally. Writers use hyperbole to make a point, create humor, or add color to their writing.
This set of two worksheets reviews the definition of hyperbole with examples, has the student practice writing their own hyperboles, and then practices identification of hyperbole from various tall tales.
These worksheets are meant to be back to back. I put this in a pdf form, but if you want to edit the worksheets (like put a name and date space at the top of the second page), just give me your email address in the Comment section and I’ll send you the worksheets in Word. Answer keys are provided.
