Teacher Directions: Cut out the words on the second page and place into an envelope for each student.
Student Directions: Take out five words at a time and write them on the first five lines of the worksheet. After the first five words, make a hypothesis as to what you think the sentence is about (Hypothesis #1). Then take out another five words, write them down, and create a second hypothesis. Continue until all words have been chosen.
Students will understand the importance of background information when creating a hypothesis.
