There should be 4 pages of worksheets in this download. Each worksheet consists of horizontal lines of three different widths to be traced.
These worksheets were created to help your student learn to draw horizontal lines with ease. This will help them form letters such as Aa, Bb, Dd, E, Ff, Hh, Ii, Jj, Kk, Ll, Mm, Nn, Pp, Rr, Tt, u, and Z, as well as shapes such as squares, rectangles, and more.
I suggest starting with the widest lines first. As they repeat these worksheets they will improve. When they improve with the widest lines, let them progress to the thinner lines, and eventually to the thinnest lines. The goal is to simply prepare them for writing by letting them get familiar with writing neatly in different directions.
If they seem frustrated, encourage them no matter how off the mark their tracing may be, “Hey I know you can do this!” or “I am proud of you for trying. I know you will get better!” Let them have a break and return to it later. My little one used to get so frustrated she would not try any longer with regular worksheets which is why I created these simple worksheets to break down parts of the letters first. It helps to keep it light and fun!
A quick tip: You may save on ink and paper by printing the worksheets once and laminating them or put the worksheets in sleeve protectors and use a wet erase marker. Dry erase markers work as well but they may erase too easily.
