This quiz is made up of different types of questions to suit different types of test takers. There is a lot of vocabulary to ensure that students are grasping these new cultural words. The response questions are open ended and can be proven correct by providing evidence. Since the book has a glossary in the back, I did not allow my students to use the book. I did inform them that they would not be able to use it and as long as they studied their chapters 1-10 packet, they would be fine. They need to be able to refer back to key points they remember from the story for the written portion.
All work in my store for Malala is using the Young Reader's Edition. Download the free teaching points from my store to match it up to these worksheets. Included in each chapter is vocabulary (if any) and Jot Questions. Jot Questions are written to help prepare students for state tests and gain a better understanding of the text. They should be responding by using details from the text to support their answer. I often use these worksheets for homework and class discussion. More often than not, I assign a chapter for homework and the students read and complete the work. The next day, we use the jots as a base for our discussion on the chapter. Enjoy and look for more in my store!
