This lesson plan and corresponding worksheets walk students through chapters 11 and 12 of Malala Yousafzai's memoir, I Am Malala - How One Girl Stood Up for Education and Changed the World (young Reader's Edition). In this lesson, readers will walk through some of the more difficult vocabulary, work to annotate their individual texts, and then collect text evidence to support their answers to a major question for each chapter. This lesson also introduces strong Habits of Discussion and sets up the class for full group discussions based on the evidence collected from the text.
This file comes with a comprehensive lesson plan, worksheets, and homework that accompany chapters 11 and 12 of the text. The text itself is not included in this file, however there are excerpts included to be used with the homework.
