This lesson plan and corresponding worksheets walk students through chapters 13 and 14 of Malala Yousafzai's memoir, I Am Malala - How One Girl Stood Up for Education and Changed the World (Young Reader's Edition). In this lesson, readers will walk through some of the more difficult vocabulary, work to annotate their individual texts, and then collect text evidence to support their answers to a major question for each chapter. This lesson also encourages strong Habits of Discussion and sets up the class for full group discussions based on the evidence collected from the text.
The main aim of the lesson is for students to use evidence from the text to draw conclusions about Malala's character and personality.
This file comes with a comprehensive lesson plan and worksheets that accompany chapters 13 and 14 of the text. The text itself is not included in this file.
