A simple literacy activity for young children. On the first page children draw a self portrait. On the other pages they draw something that they are not. They then write what it is that they drew on the bottom line (for younger children the teacher can write the word in highlighter and then have them trace the letters). This allows them to not only learn that pictures represent ideas/words, but also the simple format of a book. It can also be used as a way to talk about the unique parts of each student.
