Product Description
Creative favorite things I Am Poem that is perfect for Getting to Know You (beginning of year), Looking Back (end of year), or upper grades Valentine's Day (things students LOVE ♥). Also great for Poetry Month, a class switch, or a creative writing any time. Includes complete lesson plan. Includes a version with 'favourite'. Meets CCSS W3d for 4-8 and encourages the use of strong adjectives and verbs for more descriptive details and sensory language.

TWO "I Am Poem" fill-ins about the things students love with extended prompts. One is titled 'My Favorite Things About __ Grade' with looking-back prompts for a middle or end of the year activity. The other is a generic form for you to get acquainted with your students and for them to get to know each other for back to school.
Sample:
I dream or hope ________________________________________________________
(something you would like to happen that would make you very happy)

I am thankful for ______________________________________________________

And passionate about _________________________________________________

I am ______________ when I see ________________________________________,
(descriptive word) (describe a favorite sight)

This complete packet includes:
--student instruction sheets (15 lines with the extended prompts). See the Thumbnails. Also includes versions using the spelling variant 'Favourite' and omitting the word 'Grade'
--8 decorated papers for a final copy, black and white for easy photocopying
--step-by-step suggested lesson plan, including a chart of weak vs. strong adjectives and verbs, to demonstrate vivid, extended descriptions
--suggestions for student sharing

An engaging mini-lesson to reference for the next narrative writing assignment for your students. Useful for individual seat work, bell work, partners, homework, a center, gifted enrichment, early finishers, a bulletin board, an end of the year portfolio or an option on a menu of writing choices.
