Students will be able to write the first part (stanza) of their I Am poem, which will be in the past tense.
This is the fifth lesson in this unit where students will be able to create a song using the “to be” verb in the past, present, and future tenses. You may or may not require students to have their poem/song rhyme. I chose not to for my students.
This unit/lesson is for beginner ESL students.
Includes Do Now Handout & Drawings, Powerpoint, which is in English and Spanish, and example with sentence starters to scaffold the lesson for those who have trouble writing sentences in the past tense about their own lives. This handout is in English and Spanish as well. You can choose to modify it if you only want English or you want to use another language.
