Description

This Yes Ma'am chant will help your students learn 5 adjectives that connect to the Habits of Mind. It's formatted so that one part is black and the other part is red, making it easy for each group to see what they should read. It also has the box on the side for students to add their own drawings and notes about the meaning of the target adjectives. The target adjectives are:

1. Flexible

2. Metacognitive

3. Imaginative

4. Curious

5. Accurate

The chant includes a description of each adjective in a fun, call and response type of poem. It also gives an example of a famous person who demonstrates that trait. The people are:

1. Louis Braille

2. Taylor Swift

3. Frida Kahlo

4. Thomas Edison

5. Jane Goodall

These same 5 Habits of Mind adjectives are taught using biographies of 4 of these famous people (not Taylor Swift) in my "See a Problem, Solve a Problem" Literacy and Leadership unit. The chant and the unit go together beautifully!

If you're not familiar with GLAD, the first few times you read the black text and the students read the red text and do actions (which they create). Then you turn over your part to a student or a group of students to lead the chant.
