Every four years we go for through the sometimes agonizing process of electing a president. For months, we are inundated with ads of all types. Some positive, while a majority negative.
This lesson will guide students through some vintage ads and let them evaluate them on the "Techniques of Influence" that the ad makers use to get us to support or turn us against a candidate. It will also make them more savvy about other types of advertising too.
Included with the lesson are some teacher tips and procedures along with the student handout featuring the techniques of influence and engaging discussion questions about each ad. In addition, some extension activity ideas are provided.
ALL of the ads are provided via a link so there is no guesswork about tracking down each one.
Now, go and ROCK THE VOTE!
