Sol, Mi, Re, Do
I created this set to go with the MusicPlay Version (Grade 2, Denise Gagne). If you use a different version, you can still use this set but use the rhythms of the version you use.
My purpose for creating this set is to provide students the opportunity to show what they have learned. This can be done individually or as an entire class. To ease printing, the set is mostly black and white.
In the Rhythmic Dictation section:
Children recreate the rhythm of each animal sound. Example: Fiddle-i-fee (ti-ti, ta, ta, rest). Of course, if your version has a different version, have your students recreate that rhythm instead. If you want to extend this activity to include melody, have students fill in the solfege syllables underneath the rhythm.
In the Melodic Dictation section:
Children recreate the melody using Do, Re, Mi, and Sol. Do is marked as middle C. The rhythm is given so students can focus on putting the melody on the lines and spaces of the staff. There is an example given from the MusicPlay version but, again, feel free to use your own version.
