I Can Be Respectful-- building your classroom community (geared for preschool to first grade students)
This packet is designed to help you successfully build a community of children who genuinely care for one another. It teaches students how to be respectful and how to accept other students. It includes many different activities that you can use in your classroom at any time of the year.
Included in this pack are lesson plans and activities that you can use over an entire month that focus on teaching your students how to be respectful. You will find many resources that you can use with your students to help build your classroom community.
All of these lesson plans and activities encourage students to be respectful and teach your young learners how to talk and listen to their friends. The lessons will teach students how to respect themselves, others, and the world that they live in. Students will also learn how to practice mindfulness to help them settle their minds and bodies in a respectful way. These lessons are great for character education lessons, morning meeting activities, and team building games.
There are also lessons that are cross-curricular. Many lessons go along with picture books that exemplify characters being respectful. There are extensions and lessons that your students can use in guided reading small groups. There are also poems, worksheets, and more!
