Here’s a great little book for children to use to practice their comparing skills or to demonstrate mastery of this important Common Core Standard. Simply print the booklet pages back to back as they appear (yes, even the ones that are upside down), staple through the middle and fold in half. The pages flip up to reveal page after page of sets that your students create and compare.
Here’s how: Children roll a cube with dots or numbers to 6 and glue that amount of pictures to the left side of the page. Roll again to find the amount for the right side and glue them there. Then glue the correct word (more, less, same) to label each set. The final page allows children to write a number of their choice in each blank to make the statements true. (If preferred, there is an alternate page using vocabulary ‘greater’ and ‘fewer’ and alternate pages of corresponding labels.)
