“I Can Handle the Holidays” is a social narrative, based upon Carol Gray’s Social Stories, which describes for children environmental changes which often occur during the holidays. It also discusses the emotions this season may trigger in them and appropriate ways they might respond to them. This story does not refer specifically to Christmas. Its illustrations represent various seasonal traditions, including Christmas, but do not refer to any by name. It was designed for children on the autism spectrum; however, it is appropriate for use with all children, particularly those who have difficulty self-managing their own behavior – especially during the holiday season.
(“I Can Wait for Christmas” is another story available in my store which covers this topic and focuses on Christmas.)
