Social Stories are so amazing at teaching social skills!
Social Stories are perfect for reinforcing appropriate social skills in regular education students, students with autism, and students with ADHD. All of my social stories are written in “kid friendly language” and stories that I have personally used in my own classroom. The great thing about Social Stories is that you can use them in so many ways and I have included some suggestions on how to use them. I have included a page that talks about why you should use social stories in your classroom.
I Can Make Strong Choices, even When my Friends are Not (A Social Story on how to say “no” to your friends when you know they aren’t doing the right thing) is a story that can help students deal with friends that try to get them to make weak choices. This story goes into the social issue of saying “no” to friends when students know that they are not making the right choices. This is an issue that goes far beyond just students with disabilities. This story shows students the correct way to handle these situations and consequences on both sides. This story will help your students have the confidence to make the right choice.
