As a Kindergarten teacher for 21 years, I have taught MANY students how to write their letters! The problem was, I was trying to teach the students the proper writing steps AND how to place those letters on the lines the correct way at the same time. That was a lot of information for very young students with way too many steps! Hence, these developmentally appropriate sheets were created! With these sheets, teachers and students can focus on one skill-- how to write each letter with the proper steps (top to bottom, left to right) without the boundaries of the lined sheets. After this initial instruction, students can proceed to lined sheets as their knowledge of letter formation makes it easier for them to place the letters correctly on the lines. I have had GREAT SUCCESS with the above process and my students have BEAUTIFUL HANDWRITING on lined paper after using these initial sheets and then my lined spooky spider set!
