This lesson is for kids who think that just because they don't like the work, it's boring, it's hard or it's frustrating, they have set in their minds they shouldn't have to do it. We aim to normalize this feeling... WE ALL have things we feel this way about in school. But we still have to do it. We remind our reader of the expected and unexpected behaviors they may have when this is encountered. We use thought bubbles to show perspective taking and how other kids may feel if they demonstrate the unexpected behaviors. We tell the student, you can always raise your hand to ask for help, if it's too hard, as that is what is expected. If it was always easy and you knew everything, there would be no need for school. But that's not the case. Until then, we give some helpful positive self-talk ideas and also remind the reader that the work only lasts a short time.
