I HAVE WHO HAS ADDITION FACTS:
This activity has 100 IHWH cards arranged into 5 groups of 20 cards each: +0/+1, +2/+3, +4/+5, +6/+7, and +8/+9. It also has 8 blank cards in case replacements are needed.
Students can play the IHWH game as a whole group, small groups, partners, or individually.
The cards are designed so that play can begin with any card and it loops back to the beginning card. There are duplicated answers so it inserts an element of competition.
The game can be used to observe student capabilities and when needed, facilitators can enable better student performance by elaborating on useful strategies:
Counting on from highest number
Doubles plus one
Nines (See 9, think 10)
Doubles Plus Two (otherwise known as “Monkey in the Middle")
It is suggested that players start with the group of 20 cards for (+0, +1), all of the same level. The levels are given on the lower left hand corners of each card.
Duplicate on card stock paper and laminate if desired. Cut apart. Separate the cards into the 5 different levels. The game is finished when all the cards are placed on top of the first card and the last card loops back to the first. If any cards are still "on the table" students need to go back through the cards played to see if any mistakes have been made.
