This game is based on the popular “I Have, Who Has” format. There are 36 game cards. Print the game cards on cardstock, cut in fourths, and laminate. Direct students to find the area of the shape (triangle, rectangle, parallelogram, or square). Students may need a post-it or small piece of paper to compute their area. I then have students trade with a partner to check each other’s work. Once students have found the area for their individual cards, I choose a student to begin the game. He/she will ask the question on the bottom of his/her card. The student with that answer will respond “I have…”, then he/she will read the bottom of his/her card, “Who has…”. The game continues until the first person’s answer is called. Students can then trade cards and play again. The cards are numbered so that you can use the answer key to get the game back on track if an error is made.
