Rounding numbers always seems to be a struggle for my 4th and 5th graders each year. How about you? Looking for a fun and interactive way for them to practice this skill? This, “I have, who has” game is perfect for extra exposure to this part of fourth and fifth grade math curriculum. “I have, who has” has always been a favorite of mine as well as my students. It’s low prep and up to 24 students can play at a time or as few as 4 to 5 at a center/small group intervention.
Just print, cut on the dotted lines, laminate (for repeated use if desired) and shuffle cards.
Give one card to each student in your class/group (or more) depending on size. The student who has the card that says, “I have the first card,” begins by reading their card.
The rest of the players continue playing in order of the clues on the cards.
This is a fun and engaging activity for whole groups or even smaller groups (student will just have more cards to play).
Students will stay interested and engaged as to keep the momentum moving along quickly and smoothly. Attentive listening is key to the success of the game!
Use as a mid-unit informal check in to see where students are at, a culminating activity for the unit or a spiral game throughout the year.
