Product Description
This document contains 36 cards related to guide word and alphabetizing words. This is a great activity if you are looking for an opportunity to engage your entire class!

I arranged the cards so that a given alphabet letter has at least two cards that start with that letter. Therefore, students have to listen carefully and analyze their word carefully beyond the first letter.

For example, one card asks "Who has a word that would be found on a dictionary page with the guide word "sand" and "sent"?" and the answer is "I have 'see'. "

Another card asks, "Who has a word that would be found on a dictionary page with the guide word "shame" and "shut"?" and the answer is "I have 'shell'. "

These cards always take a few extra minutes to get through the first time. I always time my students, and then let them go through them a second and possibly third time to try to beat their record!

This product also contains an answer key (so the teacher can follow along easily) and teacher directions.
