This fun activity provides valuable practice forming regular and irregular plural nouns while giving your students a purposeful reason to be up and out of their seats during this very wiggly time of year!
The 35 game cards feature winter clip art and seasonal text.
After cards have been shuffled and distributed amongst students, the student holding Card 1 reads the clue. The student who has the plural form of that noun (at the top of his/her card) states that he/she has it, and then reads the next clue. Play continues until all nouns have been changed to their plural form.
Both regular and irregular nouns are used.
Here is what this packet includes:
♥ 35 game cards and 1 cover card (6 pages)
♥ relevant Common Core Standards
♥ Teacher Notes
♥ optional recording sheet
♥ answer key
This activity is most appropriate for 3rd graders, but it can provide standards-based practice for high level 2nd graders. Although I play this with my whole class, it would also be fun to play in a smaller group (with each player holding multiple cards).
This activity is aligned with the following Common Core ELA-Language Standards:
** Second Grade (L.2.1.B) Form and use frequently occurring irregular plural nouns
** Third Grade (L.3.1.B) Form and use regular and irregular plural nouns.
Thank you so much for looking at this activity!
Have a holly jolly winter!
