This activity is designed to allow you to review vocabulary words in a cooperative manner. Students work together as a class. Students will improve their identification of geometric vocabulary as well as literacy in reading and listening.

This activity is broken up into 3 parts: a set of 20 cards focusing on Point, Line, and Plane vocabulary; a set of 25 cards focusing on point, line and plane vocabulary; and a set of 35 cards focusing on triangles, polygons and solids. If you have a different number of students in your class, feel free to either give some students more than one card, or split the class into two large groups and use the set of 20 (some may have two or more cards using this option).

1. Print out and cut out the set of cards you will be using. Laminate them for continued use year after year.
2. Have students sit or stand in a circle or so that they can all see one another.
3. Start with the first card (the one with the purple dot). The person reads their card “I have…point. Who has…. A FLAT SURFACE THAT EXTENDS INFINITELY IN TWO DIRECTIONS”
4. Whoever has the answer (plane) will respond in kind “I have…plane. Who has…”
5. The activity ends when you get back to the first person.

• Mix up the cards so that kids are not right next to the person with their answer.
• The cards are in order vertically.
• Remind students that this is a quiet game.

Common Core Standards Emphasis
Congruence G-CO: Experiment with transformations in the plane
1. Know precise definitions of angle, circle, perpendicular line, parallel line, and line segment, based on the undefined notions of point, line, distance along a line, and distance around a circular arc.
