To help students solve addition and subtraction word problems.
Copy the cards and key. Cut out the cards only.
Cut apart cards along dotted lines. Keep the answer key for yourself. Pass out cards to students. Cards with an asterisk by the answer are more difficult cards to pass out to your higher level students. Students will work out their problem. Then have the person who has the answer 583 start. He will read his problem, explain his work (students can show it on the document camera, then ask who has his answer. The next person with that answer will do the same. It continues until it is back to the original card.
Students can play this in a center like dominoes, or you can post the cards around the room and play like a scavenger hunt.
