About This Resource:
Dr. Edward Fry compiled an extensive list of words that are found in over 50% of written texts. Good readers are to know these words by sight and should be able to say each word automatically. The Fry Sight Words are grouped into levels. Additionally, the words are ordered by difficulty and the frequency in which they occur in most written texts.
This resource targets the first 50 words from the first level of the Fry Sight Word List. Students encounter one of the sight words per page and have repeated interactions with each word. Students trace the word multiple times, color the letters of the word, highlight the word, fill in the missing letter of the word, and then finally write the word on their own. The more exposures that students have with each word, the better that students will “own” the word and can recognize each word with automaticity.
The great thing about this resource is that you can just print and go! Your students will have a routine each day in which they can practice these important words with tools in which they already use (pencils, crayons, and highlighters).
I hope that this resource is a blessing to you and your students! Also, please leave feedback. I would love to hear from you! Stop back again and happy teaching!
