Product Description

This resource is called “I LOVE ME!” and is designed to help students discover their strengths, raise their self-esteem, and become more aware of the beauty of diversity. By exploring what makes them unique and special, students can feel proud of who they are and better understand that our differences make our world an exciting and lovely place to be! This PowerPoint and activity can be used one on one, in small groups, or in large classrooms! This lesson is aligned to ASCA's National Standards and the list of standards addressed are included!

First, the educator reviews the thorough, engaging, and meaningful clickable PowerPoint that helps students understand all of the wonderful ways we are different and special.

The PowerPoint addresses:

✔ Race

✔ Physical characteristics

✔ Family structure

✔ Religious traditions

✔ Language

✔ Ability status

✔ Talents and interests

After the PowerPoint, students complete the "I LOVE ME!" activity (black line and full color versions are included!). Students choose from one of 25 clipart kids that include students from different races, ethnic backgrounds, religious backgrounds, and ability statuses to find the image that looks the most like them. The teacher can choose to use the color version OR have students color the black/white version. Students decorate the 4 circles with words, pictures, and positive affirmations that make them different and special. A student who is a math wiz may draw a picture of a calculator, a ballerina may draw ballet shoes, and a child who is proud of his heritage may draw the Mexican flag. This activity makes for a beautiful bulletin board and a great visual to help students remember that they are special, valuable, and important!
