This science unit is designed for younger elementary students. It is a great introduction to oviparous creatures. This resource will help students identify creatures that lay eggs and those that do not. The following activities are included:

Beginning Reader: - Describes the life cycle of a chicken. Two versions are available. The first is a basic reader that can be used in a Read Along, the second reader has blanks to be filled.
Matching – Match the picture with the description of the chicken life cycle stage.
Order of Sequence – Fill in the description of the chicken life cycle stage. Place stages in the correct sequence.
Oviparous Creature Sort – Sort several creatures into columns designated as egg laying, or non-egg laying.
Pocket Chart Activity – I lay/don’t lay eggs sentences.
Thinking map – What do we know about oviparous creatures?
Compare and Contrast – crab vs. scorpion
Creative writing activity – Color an egg and provide written description of the creature inside.
