Product Description
This product is a combination of social studies, geography, science, and language arts/writing. It involves high interest informational reading,map skills, and opinion writing. Students will be introduced to 9 towns that have the word "love" in their names. (Love Valley, for instance). So fitting for Valentines Day!

Where is the fifth largest meteorite in the world? Where are herds of beautiful wild mustangs that roam free? What place let students get the day off from school so that they could stomp on flies instead? How would you like to visit a ghost town? What about a fully authentic and functional wild west town? Information about wonderful and unique places of the USA will be shared with you in this resource. Photographs complement the written details about each of these places. Each location is distinctively different, yet they all have this in common: their names all contain the word “love” in them. Students will read informational text, do map work, answer comprehension questions, and write their opinions about a certain place or places. This resource will be a fun and challenging Valentine Day assignment for grades 3-6.

These are real locations within the United States. Outline-only images of 9 states are provided. 3-6 pages of text and colorful pictures describe and give facts about each place. Based on having read this information, students match the town with the state. After the students label the map with the state name and
write the town name next to a point on the map, they are to fill in the "Love Notes" paper. Here they will briefly write what they liked about the town and answer some short questions about the town.
After all 9 towns have been ""studied", students will write a final assessment by answering the question "If you could stay in any of these locations for a month, all expenses paid, which would you choose and tell why".

States in this activity are Virginia, North Carolina, Illinois, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Nevada, Maryland, Colorado, and Arizona.

The product's pages have been arranged by city and state. In other words, everything that has to do with _____, Oklahoma will be together in the same section of pages. Having this format will make it easier for the teacher to make each section about a particular place into a packet.
