Read the book “I Looked Through My Window” by Michaela Morgan
Then you have each student create an illustration in the box. Next they write about their illustration. Next you give them a window page. The panes get cut out and the reader has to guess what the illustration is on the other page. It is a good lesson for teaching children the difference between authors and illustrators.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.K.2: Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose informative/explanatory texts in which they name what they are writing about and supply some information about the topic.
