This lesson blends science with art. Your students will learn fun facts about some types of flowers while they create their own garden with cut outs. You will need to make copies for the students to color. After students color the flowers, grass and fun fact bubbles, the students will cut out the flowers, grass and fun fact bubbles to paste/glue the items onto a large sheet of paper. The goal is to have the students paste/glue the flowers and grass in a way that it looks as if the flowers are growing out of the grass. After the flowers and grass have been pasted/glued, help the students paste/glue the fun facts for each flower next to the appropriate flower. Each flower is labeled to make this task easier. Discuss the fun facts of each flower with the students and encourage conversation about flowers or more research about flowers.
This lesson may be modified so that the students may make a book about flowers. Simply paste/glue the cut outs in manner that would allow the students to create book pages. Get creative to make a front and back cover for the book and bind the book in a safe and creative manner. Most importantly, have fun!
