Love is a many splendored thing! Surprise your students by teaching them to say, “I love you” in 16 different languages! This resource includes vocabulary cards and Write the Room for your class to celebrate Valentine’s day. Also, you can learn about other countries and cultures, and make Valentine cards as a class! Students love making valentine cards in 16 different languages for their classmates.
Write the Room: You can post the cards around the room in pairs, i.e. “Te quiero” and “Spanish.” Students walk around to find the cards, they can be hidden or in plain sight, and practice writing, “I love you” in the various languages. (You can play Nat King Cole’s “L-O-V-E” during this activity!)
I also use the cards as matching cards where students each get a card and they walk around the room to find their match. For instance, if I got “Eu te amo” I would have to find the person with the card “Portuguese.” My students really get a kick out of this game!
