I Made a Friend Today!
Activity to go with the book Fox Makes Friends
This is a simple template that you can use to make a class book. Read the book Fox Makes Friends by Adam Relf. Assign the children partners (I draw sticks to assign partners). The partners then help each other write their names. They each draw a picture of each other.
I model for the students how to make a person using shapes. We add details such as shirt color, hair, ears, etc. Collect, punch holes, and add rings for a great class book. The children will love it for a read aloud and also in the classroom library. You can also use it to teach “repeated text”. Each page has the same text, so they can read with you.
This is also a great way for kids to get to know each other. Especially in kindergarten when children don’t know each other. They will work together, help each other, and learn together if they feel like they are friends. This is a great way to build community.
I hope you enjoy this as much as my class!
