These time-saving general fiction task cards for grades 4, 5, and 6 can be paired with an array of fictional texts, including class novels, short stories, guided reading texts, picture books, trade books, etc. Students can use these cards in a literacy center, independently, or in a group. The 16 cards ask general comprehension questions ranging from easy text-dependent to higher-level thinking, including "What are the themes of this story?" and "How did the characters change over the course of the story?"
