My students absolutely LOVE the story "I Need My Monster" by Amanda Noll. As an extension to that book, I have them design their own monster and give him/her 5 physical traits and 5 personality traits. They then write a story about their monster and provide EVIDENCE to support the personality traits they assigned to their monster. The students love the opportunity to show their creative side in designing their monster. It also helps them learn the difference between physical and personality traits, as well as giving the students the opportunity to support their personality traits with evidence in a narrative.
This product includes 2 different monster templates, as well as writing paper with directions.
