Leading up to November 11, I read a book, “A Poppy is to Remember” by Heather Patterson. This book is one of my favourites for teaching about Remembrance Day!
This book leads into a discussion. Students create poems and draw a picture from the book that resonated with them and glue their final work to either red or black construction paper. I find that the work the students do with this is absolutely marvelous, and they look GREAT on the hall bulletin board!
