This Emergent Reader is designed to help beginning readers build confidence and fluency through sight words. This text provides a simple and predictable pattern for early readers. This book is perfect for whole group shared reading and/or guided reading.
Sight Words: I, See, My
Each week I introduce a sight word and read a book with my students. For this particular book, our weekly sight word is see. I have the students go through and read each page with me. We focus on pointing to each word and using our “Eagle Eye” to figure out the last word using the picture. The students also highlight the weekly sight word in the text. We just use a color crayon over the word.
After reading the book three times for fluency, the students color and add the book to their book bins! Books can also be sent home for students to read with their families.
This resource can be used to fit your needs within the classroom. Regardless of how you use the book, it will help your students with sight words, fluency, and confidence as little readers!
