Product Description
The focus of this packet is on CVC words with the letter sound /a/ in the middle. There are four cards each for the Word Families –an, -at, -ad, -am, -ag, and –ap. Also included are eight cards with short /a/ assorted words. A total of 32 cards is included.

Select the cards you wish to have your students practice. Laminate, cut out and place them into a container at learning center. Your students will then use a magnifying glass to find the three hidden words in the picture. The words are recorded on their story page as they are found before proceeding with the rest of the page.

Story Pages: Four different story response pages are provided to allow for differentiation. Both primary and elementary lined pages have been included.
1) Write the 3 words in alphabetical order (to the first letter). Then “rainbow” write one word and use a second word in a sentence. “Rainbow” write can be anything of your choosing. Some ideas include: (a) write each letter in a different color using colored pencils or hi-lighter or (b) write the entire word with one color using a colored pencil, then write it again two more times directly on top of the first letters using different colors each time.
2) Use the 3 words in a story and illustrate.
3) Use the 3 words in a story pre-arranged into three sections: first, next and last. Illustrate each section.
4) Use the 3 words in a story pre-arranged into four sections: first, next, then and last. Illustrate each section.

Have fun with this activity.
