    The focus of this resource is on individual vowel sounds as well as mixed CVC words for all five vowels. For each packet in the bundle, there is a total of four card sets with four cards each which help young learners practice editing simple sentences (statements) and questions using CVC words.

    1. Editing sentences only
    2. Editing questions only
    3. Editing two sentences and two questions
    4. Editing two sentences and two questions

    The sentences and questions are the same as the ones found in my I-Spy a CVC Sentence and I-Spy a CVC Question resources for continuity.

    Short /a/ Sentences & Questions:

    • The cat is in the hat. -- Is the cat in the hat? (no)
    • The fan is on the van. -- Is the fan on the van? (yes)
    • The ram is on the jam. -- Is the ram on the jam? (no)
    • The man is on the mat. -- Is the man on the mat? (yes)

    Short /e/ Sentences & Questions:

    • The hen is on the web. -- Is the hen on the web? (no)
    • The pen is on the bed. -- Is the pen on the bed? (yes)
    • The bed is on the pen. -- Is the bed on the pen? (yes)
    • The net is on the bed. -- Is the net on the bed? (no)

    Short /i/ Sentences & Questions:

    • The pin is in the bin. -- Is the pin in the bin? (no)
    • The kid is on the rib. -- Is the kid on the rib? (yes)
    • The kit is on the pin. -- Is the kit on the pin? (no)
    • The wig is on the kid. -- Is the wig on the kid? (yes)

    Short /o/ Sentences & Questions:

    • The top is on the pop. -- Is the top on the pop? (yes)
    • The fox is on the cot. -- Is the fox on the cot? (no)
    • The dog is on the box. -- Is the dog on the box? (yes)
    • The tot is on the pot. -- Is the tot on the pot? (no)

    Short /u/ Sentences & Questions:

    • The tug is on the rug. -- Is the tug on the rug? (no)
    • The pup is in the cup. -- Is the pup in the cup? (yes)
    • The bug is in the tub. -- Is the bug in the tub? (no)
    • The gum is on the bun. -- Is the gum on the bun? (yes)

    Assorted Vowels Sentences & Questions:

    • The man is on the map. -- Is the man on the map? (no)
    • The bag is in the bin. -- Is the bag in the bin? (yes)
    • The cub is on the cab. -- Is the cub on the cab? (no)
    • The rat is on the rug. -- Is the rat on the rug? (yes)

    Select the card set you wish to have your students practice. Laminate for durability, cut out and post at various locations around the room.

    Recording Pages: Two response pages (with two different writing line styles) are provided to allow for differentiation. On both pages, the student will search the room for the sentences/questions and edit for beginning upper-case letters and punctuation. Then, s/he will do one of the following:

    1. Color the picture.
    2. Draw her/his own illustration to match the sentence/question.
