I Spy about Arctic Animals : A Write the Room
Book Building Activity
the animals included are:
Cut out the word cards
Hang them all over your room
Give the children a clipboard with the activity sheet to complete.
Since all of the cards have a picture code on them, you can hang all of the word cards up around the room. The picture coding helps the children find the correct words for their worksheet. Give some children a polar bear paper, they must find all of the polar bear cards to copy the words. Give some children the narwhal paper, they must find all of the narwhal cards around the room etc. This way not all of the children are trying to find the same cards at once and are not crowded around one card at a time. Have the children walk around the room, they must find the numbers and write the word in the corresponding box on the worksheet.
After they write the words, they read the sentence and draw a picture to describe the sentence in the box that is provided.
After all of your students have completed all of the worksheets, have them color the Book Cover, collate all of their worksheets in the correct order and Voila!
A Non Fiction Emergent Reader that they made and illustrated ! They can read to their parents or have their parents read to them.
Our kids loved doing this get up and move activity. They love anything that involves a clipboard and them walking around the room with it. They say they feel like a teacher.
