Display these cards around your room as an interactive activity for students to distinguish words that have silent letters from words that do not have silent letters in them.
Students can move around the room, read each card, and determine whether the word contains letters that have no sound when the word is spoken. The words can be recorded in the students' journals or on a note card. This is a great way for students to get moving in a way that is engaging and meaningful!
Included are 20 cards; 10 blue cards are words with silent letters and 10 red cards with words that do not contain silent letters. The words on the card contain words that have the silent letter k (such as in the word "knee"), g (such as in the word "gnat"), and w (such as in the word "wrap").
These cards could also be used as a sort activity for your Literacy Center to be used as a skill review tool.
